Everyday Skills Everyday Skills was developed as a platform-independent package, which can run on a wide range of operating systems.However, it was developed with Windows as a primary target and is made available for Windows and Mac OS X. Everyday Skills was developed using Java as the primary programming language.  Since it was developed for educational purpose, it is designed to be as safe as possible.  It was developed in a way that makes it easy for the average programmer to be able to write every line of code and it is designed to be  a development environment that is intuitive and not overly technical. There are two versions of Everyday Skills – the Windows version and the Mac OS version.The Windows version runs on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. The Windows version of Everyday Skills has the ability to be configured to provide support for multiple switches and provide a combination of audio and visual support to each switch.  Switches can be any simple switch, a single button, a lever, a dial or a joystick. The Mac version of Everyday Skills supports a single switch.  It is possible to have multiple switches on a Mac, however, there is no provision for a combination of audio and visual support on a Mac.  On a Mac, the only way of configuring support for multiple switches is by using a web browser. Everyday Skills is sold through a number of different channels.  There are software packages that contain a single application or a suite of applications.  These packages also offer administration support.  There are third party resellers that sell everyday skills through retail outlets. History and background Development of Everyday Skills was funded by the Irish Department of Education and Science and the European Social Fund.  This funding enabled Everyday Skills to be produced.  The project team comprised Maths Education Ltd.  and Medway Ltd.  Maths Education Ltd.  was the company that developed the product and the project team consisted of two educators and two technologists.
